Cute Kitten Rescue Mission Caught on Camera

The itteh bitteh little kitteh in the video above was stuck in a drainpipe outside an Indianapolis school for 48 hours. Using a snake camera, a plumber rescued the little cutie. A staff member from the school adopted the kitten and named it Stormy after its drainpipe adventure.

We love the overjoyed reactions of the people as the kitten was pulled to safety!

Is happier than the kitten being left in the drain, or mother and babies stayign on the streets without anyone to care for them – a not so small chance the babies wouldn’t have survived anyway, it’s tough out there. She and the surviving baby have homes now, and the mother cat doesn’t have the mental capacity of a human. She’ll miss her baby at first, and want it back, but she would naturally let it go at some point and stop thinking of it as her baby – that’s how cat families work – so I’m sure she’ll get over it.

  2. Barb says:

I wasn’t taking credit – I was trying to catch the mother cat – she brought the litter of kittens over and put them in front of my window. I didn’t try to pick them up – just went to look. Sure am glad your g/f was on the phone for 2 days – Can’t imagine any other animal-lover wouldn’t have gone to take a peek. All in all – a mess – and of course I feel badly that they jumped down the pipe. I did not want to go on camera and I did not take credit for anything … sorry you feel that way.

  3. bichon says:

not a happy ending in my opinion. the person that adopted (or grabbed as i could read) the kitteh is the same one that caused two others to die… one momma lost her babies and that will also leave a scar in her heart… poor poor poor family

  4. Gamin Davis says:

Dis iz wundermuss newz!! Kongratz 2 yu, adn heerz hoepin Momcat can haz furevvr hoem berri soon!

Hoepz awlso dat she getz 2 see her bebbeh agin.

  5. CatBurgh says:

Ohai, Maimou! I love your story and its happy ending.

  6. Maimou says:

Kudos to the men who dug up that pipe to get kitteh! I love me some tender hearted plumbers!!
My husband broke through a wall to get a litter that had been born in the attic of the duplex we were renting, then fell down the plumbing wall when they started to crawl. We placed them all except the tuxedo, who lived a long and happy life with us. Husband repaired the wall flawlessly before the lease ran out (and no one was the wiser!) Happy memories!

  7. Andrea says:

Oh thank you I was so worried about her she seemed so upset!
Cheers to you from Brazil =]

  8. susie says:

I was going to leave an update but Tampa already did. NO ONE I repeat No ONE works harder than Tampa and Randy to help the kittehs. Yhey deserve all the good wishes from everyone!!!

  9. Randy & Tampa says:

We trapped Mommy Cat this morning and she is in a large warm dog crate with food and bedding now. She will be spayed this week and if possible looking for a new home.

    Thanks to all!!!!

  10. Ct says:

Me, too. At the end when I saw mom cat, I got worried about her. I hope they united happily.

  11. CarrieVS says:

It is a happy ending and a sad ending. The person who scared the kitten down the drain was probably trying to help, just misguided, and the kitten is safe and won’t grow up on the streets, but mother and baby have been separated when it wasn’t necessary, which is very sad.

  12. janet says:

They better give that kitteh back to momma!!!

  13. CarrieVS says:

A mother trying to protect her babies probably would. If she wasn’t feral she’d probably have come right up to them. Don’t mess with maternal instinct.
And stray cats become feral quite easily, even if they were brought up as pets, because cats still have most of the instincts of their wild ancestors – although some breeds that have been changed quite a lot, ordinary cats are very nearly wild animals, they just trust people if they’re brought up with them.

  14. Gamin Davis says:

Yur welkum, Nicewitch! AI goez naow adn akseps yur frend req. …

  15. Jessica says:

Well then praises for Indyferal for taking care of momma kitty..it upset me to see how stressed she was so it’s a relief to know she’s been taken care of

  20. M says:

It is a happy ending because the kitten didn’t die a horrible, lonely death in a drain.

  21. felidaefan says:

Note to self – make absolutely certain you’re finished editing BEFORE you post comments. : D

  22. felidaefan says:

All three of my furbabies (over the past 24 years) were feral kittens, of varying ages. My parents’ two indoor kitties were also eensie feral fluffballs when my previously “NO CATS” father fell for them and brought them inside. I like to think that for each unfortunate pavement pelt, there are is at least one feline-friendly family to help make up the difference.

  23. abbasgirl says:

That is NOT what I call a happy ending!!! I hope that poor Momma cat will get lots of TLC after loosing all of her babies to the nosy woman and the kitten snatcher!!! Are there not enough kittens out there who need a good home? Why did she have to come along and steal a baby from it’s mother?

  24. evangeline says:

Susie, I really hope mommy kitty will be taken care of. She really seemed concerned about her baby. Poor thing. Keep up the good work. TNR is the only answer to so many unwanted cats on the streets.

  25. susie says:

My girlfriend was helping with this rescue. It was a total cluster@#$% from the start. The woman who took all the credit was the one who scared the kittens down the drain to start with. She saw the Mommy nursing and went out to take a look. My girlfriend was on the phone for 2 DAYS trying to get help. She didn’t know that roter-rooter will help with this stuff if asked. As soon as she called them they came. Indyferal (who i work with) was going to take the mom and the kitten but some woman grabbed the kitten and “adopted ” him. The upside is the kitten is out of the drain and as far as I know Indyferal will take care of Mom. Indianapolis is very fortunate that we have a strong TNR program.

  26. D-R says:

Lord have mercy. Luv and skwizzes to all teh kittehs and hoomans.

  27. Gamin Davis says:

  28. FarClan says:

I am concerned for the momcat, too. She must have been frantic about her baby, then they stole her baby and left her .. .. ..

  29. nicewitch says:

Mennee blessings tu yu, tuu, Doug, foar hassing teh payshuns inn letting yoar ‘feral’ set hims oan payse. Is sew riwarding tu gayning der trusts, iznt it? An den, such a rileaf, noeing dat yu is kiiping dem saef an worm an wel-fed.

  30. doug says:

I have a feral cat laying on the floor as I type. I left food for him out in the woods by my house all one winter, and only caught a glimpse of him twice. my other cat saw him the next summer walking at the edge of our yard, and approached him. They sat together without conflict for several days in a row, and he worked up the courage to come up to our house, and before long, was inside exploring. he’s a nice, friendly cat now, thoroughly enjoying indoor life (he’s since been neutered, too).

  31. nicewitch says:

Mii tuu!!! Gud foar yu, Ginger!! Ferals niid lubs tuu, doan dey?

  32. duranimal says:

There’s a difference between truly feral and strays. A feral cat likely wouldn’t have gotten so close to people. I do hope someone took the mama home too.

  33. Ginger says:

I hope somebody took momma in to get spayed and hopefully gave her a forever home. Ferals can be domesticated. I have two living proofs napping on my bed.

  34. LOLCATS90808 says:

    OH!!WAIT!!!

    P.S OMG…IZ DAT STORMY MOMMEH!?

  35. kinjinsdaddy says:

    sad. sew berryberry sad.

  36. Widdershins says:

Momma is feral (A Wild Thing) and was very brave to face the cameras and the crowd.

I feel very badly for her.

  37. jk says:

kitteh’ is cute just like his momma

  38. CarrieVS says:

Hoping the person adopted both of them. If she had kittens that young outside, she was probably a stray in need of a new home.

  40. Lanna says:

Well, they acknowledge the mummy cat in the video, maybe by ‘adopt’ the reporters just meant ‘held for a while and gave a nice name’. Maybe…?

  41. Mary Tomcsanyi says:

I certainly hope someone helped the Momcat. She looked so upset.

  42. Crimsonkittys says:

  44. Furball67 says:

Did anyone adopt the momma kitteh…she was a gorgeous cat as well. Is she O.K.? I hope so.

  45. Susan DeWeese says:

Rustti, your comments show your knowledge and concern; I don’t know you but hope your community is proud of you.

  46. Larissa says:

I haz a sad. I read this article that said someone on staff thought the mom was gone so she went up to the three kittens who then ran up the pipe. http://www.northwestohio.com/news/story.aspx?id=677122#.TqHadHI5WSo They think the other two kittens died. :( But as the video shows the mom was there! This is why you shouldn’t go near little kittehs unless you know the mom can’t take care of them.

  47. rustti says:

The Mom was still nursing ,you can see her utters hanging,,,,that means the mom wasn’t ready to give her babbeh up for adoption..

  48. rustti says:

The Mom looked worried…I would have taken the mom home too…..She can always go back to try to take the mom home too..

  49. joey says:

i hope they helped the momma kitty. she looked worried about her baby.

  50. Purtrilla says:

yes, momma kitteh looked concerned. Glad the bebbeh is OK.
